Kobe Bryant’s father was also a basketball player, was the youngest player in NBA history at that time, at 18 years, 2 months plus.
An 18-time NBA All-Star who won five championships and became one of the greatest basketball players of his generation during a 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He became the first champion professional athlete to win an Oscar and the first black person to win one for best animated short film after writing and narrating “Dear Basketball,” a tribute to the game he loved. Bryant told reporters that winning an oscar was better than winning an NBA title.
Kobe is survived by his wife Vanessa who he was married to for 20 years and three other daughters. Natalia, born January 19, 2003. Gianna, born May 1, 2006, 2:03 am, Santa Ana, California, Bianka Bella Bryant, born Dec 5, 2016 and Capri Kobe Bryant born June 20, 2019. Kobe lived in Italy as a child where his father played basketball and was fluent in Italian.
Kobe married Latina Vanessa when she was 18 when he was 21. His family rejected her. They almost divorced when Kobe was accused of raping a 19-year-old hotel worker in 2004. Kobe said that he thought the sexual encounter was consensual, and apologized for cheating on his wife. Sexual assault charges were filed against the basketball player in September 2004, but the case was dropped three weeks after it was filed because the woman didn’t want to proceed. She was paid in a civil case. Kobe gifted his wife with an eight-carat purple diamond ring worth $4 million after the case was dropped as a forgiveness present. Kobe retired from basketball on December 18, 2017.
